How Young People Communicate In The Workplace

Proper communication skills are a good source of strengthening business relationships. Many youngsters who have recently joined organizations have this same problem with them that they lack proper communication skills and are unable to interact with their co-workers or customers. This sometimes leads to misunderstandings and such people are referred to be under confident and they may lose their jobs due to lack of communication skills. They may not get into good books of their employees and suffer from inferiority complex.

Having a good learning of communication skills is nowadays as important as is the need of good education. In past, people called their customers and employees if they wanted to communicate. But nowadays, youngsters are having a number of choices for communication with increase in technological resources. The only option of phone call in the past has been replaced by text message and e-mail. People prefer these over calls or live interaction and are losing proper communication. Workplace of this era requires a lot of effective communication than before and it requires a lot of time as well, but unfortunately so little time is spent on it. This means that communication is a requirement for effective business, not an option.

Communicating with people also depend on their own choices. Knowledge of how to talk to strangers will be useful here. Some people hate e-mails but some prefer it as this helps them to keep a record of their conversations. Youngsters lack face-to-face communication skills and there is a lot of need for this as some people want a face-to-face meeting and prefer these meetings over everything.

Communication in the workplace

The type of communication required with your management is to be decided first. When you are communicating with your management, try to avoid taking more of his time and remain precise with the information you provide him related to some problem. Don’t bother your boss if it is not necessary as it would lead to a bad impression on him.

If your boss is a person who wants to listen to a long and detailed discussion, take your time and satisfy him. After such discussion give him a small file with bullet points of all what you have discussed with him.

While communicating with your co-workers, try to flow the information to them very smoothly and provide them with complete information.

While communicating outside the company youngsters should make sure who your audience is and what you are delivering the speech about. If you are having a right speech but the wrong crowd, this may lead to employment problems. Try to remain to the point and when you are communicating with customers, try to complete your point within 10-12 minutes of time as your audience will start to lose attention after this time.

Try to understand body language, as it is one of the very important ways of understanding the feedback of your audience.

Try to deliver such bad to the staff or customers clearly and don’t waste time in making a decision or informing them, if you do so rumors would fly off in one way or other causing doubt to your customers or employees.
