How to make sure that personalized learning really works at school

l with individual curricula of children and analysis of existing definitions of this concept (there are more than 10 of them in different sources), allows me to define an "individual approach to learning" as a complex of methods, forms, content and pace of learning, which is based on abilities, interests, needs, character, strengths and developmental areas of each student.

What are the main advantages of an individual approach
Advantage 1. Movement at your own pace and the student passing those topics that are relevant to him. We all learn in different ways. Someone needs a year to learn the multiplication table, while someone needs two. Someone can read at the age of 6, and someone acquires this ability only at 7. And this is normal. An individual approach allows each child or adult to advance at their own pace, assimilate knowledge and develop the skills that the student needs at the moment.

Advantage 2. Increased motivation. When I come to a lesson in which, for example, I have to learn according to the program what I already know well, then for me personally, the effectiveness of such a pastime is not high. Of course, there is always benefit. But with the help of individualized teaching methods, I could get 2-3 times more benefit. So, feeling my efficiency, productivity and effectiveness, my desire to learn and move on will only grow.

Advantage 3. Formation of the ability to learn. I think many are familiar with the statistics of completing training in online courses: out of 100% of users who start an online course, only 4-7% complete it. This suggests that we do not know how to study on our own, without external control, without the accompaniment of a teacher. But the ability to study independently is a most valuable skill, not even of the future, but of the present. With the help of the tools of an individual approach to learning, the student becomes more and more independent over time and practice, he feels confident in the educational process. He begins to understand how to build a learning process and how to monitor his progress. So he acquires the skill to complete what he started, which is especially difficult for many.
