Cosmetic and aesthetic surgery has become a vast and ever-growing industry. Every day, we come across new and innovative procedures that offer effective cosmetic solutions. Two such procedures are the topic of our discussion in this article i.e., dermal fillers and thread lift. Both of these treatments are used for facial rejuvenation and to remove aging signs from the face.

However, you might get confused while selecting any of the two treatments. Although both of the procedures are non-surgical alternatives to surgical facelift still you need to know which procedure is better for you. To solve this mystery, we have decided to analyze both the treatments in detail so that you can figure out the best one.

But first, let’s have a quick recap on how dermal fillers and thread lift work.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers in Dubai are injectables containing hyaluronic acid.  Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the skin to improve its elasticity and stabilize the structure. Dermal fillers when injected into the skin, restore the lost volume and stimulate the cell renewal process. They add more volume to the lips and cheeks and redefine the natural contours of your face. In addition to this, they also function to remove fine lines, wrinkles, deep folds, and scars.

As dermal fillers are non-surgical so they do not cause pain that is associated with surgical procedures.

Thread Lift

Thread lift procedure uses a different technique for facial rejuvenation. It works by inserting an absorbable thread into the skin with the help of a cannula. The thread used in the treatment is made up of a biodegradable polymer that gets absorbed over time.

Thread lift treatment in Dubai stimulates collagen and elastin production which gives an instant lift to the skin. You get a lifted and younger-looking facial skin for a long time. It helps you get rid of the sagging skin and wrinkles by tightening the facial skin. You do not have to go under the knife to get a tightened a lifted appearance.

Which is Better?

Now let’s move to the question of discussion.

Which method is better?

Well, that solely depends on your requirements and what you are looking for. Some most common concerns of patients while choosing any non-surgical cosmetic treatment are;

  • What are the goals of the treatment or what can be achieved?
  • What is the downtime or recovery time?
  • For how long the results can last?
  • What are the possible side effects?
  • Is the procedure painful?

Let’s discuss each concern in detail.

Goals

Dermal fillers increase the volume of sunken areas like cheeks, lips, or under-eye area. On the other hand, thread lift tightens and lifts the sagging skin giving you younger-looking skin.

Downtime

The expected downtime in dermal fillers is minimal. The patient can go home and resume daily life activities soon after the treatment. You might experience swelling, bruising, and redness at the treatment site but it will subside in a few days.

However, patients who get thread lift treatment have to stay careful for at least 7 to 10 days. After that, they can perform all the activities.

Longevity of results

The results of dermal fillers are temporary and last for 6 to 18 months. But the results of a thread lift are long-lasting as they can be seen for at least 3 years.

Possible Side Effects

Side effects are one of the major concerns of the patients. They choose a treatment after analyzing the reactions it can cause.

Poor quality dermal fillers or poorly administered dermal fillers can cause lumps which lead to a puffy-looking face.

The possible side effects of a thread lift include dimpling of skin, infection, or threads being visible and not holding the skin firmly.

Pain

Dermal fillers are painless. The only sensation you feel is of the injection that people refer to as rubber band snap or bug bite. Still, topical anesthesia is used to reduce the discomfort.

However, thread lift can cause more pain because of its minimal invasiveness. Local anesthesia is used during this procedure to reduce the discomfort.

The Final Verdict

Now that we have compared both the treatments based on the above-mentioned parameters, it is easy for you to decide. If you want less painful treatment and more volume, go for dermal fillers. But if you want to get a lifted appearance with tightened skin for a long time, thread lift is the right option for you.

Here, you should not forget that consultation with an expert is also very important before making the decision. You should consult with a board-certified cosmetic surgeon to know whether you are an ideal candidate for the chosen procedure or not. Also, only an expert can tell if a particular procedure is suitable for your skin type or not. Therefore, always choose a reputable cosmetic surgeon.
