5 reasons to complain about the movers

Damaged goods: During the move me, the movers are obliged to move your belongings without any damage. Some wear and tear may occur, but if your belongings are completely damaged, you have every right to make an official complaint against the packing company.
Lost or stolen items: During a move, it is possible that items may be lost or stolen; the movers have a responsibility to make sure your belongings are safe. Before the movers arrive, make a detailed inventory of your belongings so that you can keep track of them and easily identify if something is missing.

Hostage goods:
Sometimes mover companies refuse to deliver your belongings until you pay them the required amount, even if it is more than the contracted amount. If this happens, it is advisable to report a moving scam immediately.
Overpriced: Before you sign a contract with packers, read all the terms and conditions carefully and check whether they have included any hidden costs. However, if you have already moved the shipment and you have been overcharged, you can and should still make a complaint against the company.

Delayed delivery:
You are paying for the service. What's more, you have a contract between you and the movers, so they have to stick to the planned schedule. Sometimes they may be late due to traffic or other reasons, but if they are very late, you can make an official complaint.
How to take legal action

An amicable settlement
First of all, try to resolve the problem amicably. Check your contract with the movers and review all the terms and conditions stated in it. Depending on the problem, contact the packers and movers to make a complaint. Their management will take the necessary action and compensate you for the lost/damaged goods.
You can also go online by writing a review about the company, as in today's digital world, a negative review can reflect badly on the moving company.

Legal action
If an amicable solution to the problem has not worked, take legal action against the packing company. Gather all documents such as invoices, cost quotations, insurance, contract, inventory, etc. Have legal evidence to support your claim, e.g.: photos of your goods before and after delivery, etc.

Fill in the CONSUMER COMPLAINT form to claim your losses under 'Section 12' of the Consumer Protection Act 1986 (CPA).
Packers and movers are also part of the services under the CPA and you can go to the consumer court to claim damages/compensation.
If you complete the Consumer Protection Act form, litigation will cost you less time and money and you won't have to hire a lawyer to handle the case. You can easily present your own case in consumer protection court.
If you are not satisfied with the consumer protection court's decision, you can also file a separate civil suit in the general court by filing an FIR under Section 421 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) under FRAUD.

You can hire a lawyer and serve a court notice on the company, after which the proceedings will take place in the civil court.
If you have purchased insurance cover for your goods, you can file a claim against the insurance companies immediately. You can file an FIR against the insured goods as well, as an insurance claim is not a bar to filing an FIR.
You can also file a consumer complaint and an FIR at the same time, there is no barrier to doing so.
